Building exposes itself...

the 'inner' fluffy bits of the library building were exposed when workers took down an external facade panel. This was necessary because we wanted to know how the external panels had been fixed prior to considering how they could be replaced.
Rest assured the panel has been replaced and the building's dignity restored!

Down...but not out

No network available from the start of the day - meaning: No computers; No Phones; No WiFi; No Photocopier. Needles to say we were quiet!
Seems that something was 'fried' in the coms cabinet and it was looking pretty much like we would be down for some time. But a new power supply was found/installed and we were 'restored' a little after lunch. Not surprising that we then got a whole lot busier (for the rest of the afternoon).
We're hoping for a better day tomorrow!

Cool August night

A lovely cool (but clear) evening at Seaford, so I've taken the opportunity to take a shot of the library.

Tops are off

we've consulted staff, we've consulted the customers...
and the consensus is...
Tops are off!
Off with those dust covers, up with the shelving and forward with the way we display our book stock.
Now we just have to do the rest of the collection!

Aerial

no wonder the picture was breaking up....
someone's been on the roof and damaged the aerial (and the posts supporting the bird netting). We've contacted the aerial contractors and all should be fixed soon!

Book Week prep...

The theme for Book Week 2009 is 'Book Safari' and the preparations have commenced. The 'safari hunt' has been put in place and now it is up to the 'library explorers' to find the clues to complete the trail. The library can be quite a jungle but if the explorers are successful then they can claim the rewards.

Shelving

the dust covers are off...
Angela has removed the dust covers from a bay of shelving and raised the height of the bottom shelves. Now we have feedback forms available to customers to gauge their response ...
Will this see us removing the rest of the dust covers or return to the way things were? Stay tuned...
