Photocopier

the old Canon colour photocopier has reached the end of it's service contract and so it is Goodbye! It served us well over the last 5 years with lots of copying, with very little fuss or bother. But now we bid it adieu...

High cleaning...

The high cleaning was completed last Saturday removing the dust and grime, spider webs (and spiders) and other accumulated stuff from all the high areas throughout the library. All is now 'spick and span'!

More magazine shelving...

...like we needed more magazine shelving? Apparently so! The collection was getting larger, we needed to get them off the bottom shelves, with all the rain there was a risk of flooding (well, you never know)...
Whatever the reason - we have more!

Three staff have undertaken refresher Workplace Emergency Training - Warden Course.

Remove people from the immediate area
Alert others and the Fire Service
Contain the fire/smoke
Evacuate the area
= RACE

New chairs

36 new chairs have arrived and been installed in the ITC and the student computer area in the library. The new chairs are height adjustable with solid frame construction and glides rather than castors. We will see how they survive after some fairly solid use by students...

New bins

New bins for general garbage and recycling were delivered and installed today. They are very distinctive and clearly labeled, large but not obtrusive. I'm sure we will make good use of them and do our bit for the environment!

Book sale

The Seaford library BOOK SALE started today. The sale includes all of the videos that the library held (as these will no longer be a collection), all debited books, magazines and CDs as well as donated items. Time to grab a bargain!

Videos no more...

As of 1 July there are no longer any videos available for borrowing from the library. It's the end of an era. The new digital technology has supplanted the old tape system. I wonder how long it will be until the DVDs are 'old hat'!
